Good health is a journey

You don’t have to go it alone
Beth Haynes, MD | Functional and Lifestyle Medicine Consultant
In spite of miraculous advances in medicine, chronic illness is on the rise. Why?
Our current healthcare system encourages treatment of isolated symptoms—most physicians are trained to quickly make a diagnosis, prescribe a medication or surgical procedure, and then move on to the next patient. These short appointments leave both patients and physicians too rushed to solve the mysteries of ill health or construct a path toward full vitality.
It’s time to approach our health challenges from a comprehensive point of view.
In a highly collaborative process—because while I have medical expertise, you are the expert on you—we will gather clues from the full spectrum of your symptoms and experiences, nutritional status, family history, lifestyle choices, and major life events. This approach creates a broad view of otherwise overlooked dynamics that may manifest as dysfunction and disease.
That information, along with any necessary testing, helps determine the best treatment, whether dietary or lifestyle changes, body-based modalities such as acupuncture or chiropractic, conventional treatments such as medication or surgery, or a combination.
Together, we design a step-by-step program—one that fits your values as well as the realities of your life—to restore your good health and allow you to flourish.
What is Functional Medicine?
A patient-centered approach to health care, functional medicine addresses the whole person. Practitioners take detailed histories from their patients, seeking clues from genetic, environmental, and lifestyle patterns, looking at the interactions that influence long-term health and chronic disease.
